The line soon forms the shape of the Great Beast Tundra. The man pulls out an ancient metal crown that pulses with energy. He puts it on his head and the snows swirl around him. The line in the ground begins to glow.

Heather is preparing tea when the phone rings. It's Gary Cody, who works for Department H, Alpha Flight's government sponsor. He tells them they better check out the CBC. The news shows the light show from Resolute Bay. No one knows what it is, but James knows it's his job to check it out. He tells Heather to tell Cody he's on his way.
She tells him that this is more a job for Alpha Flight, but James says the group is inactive. He flies away. A weather ship in the ocean spots Marinna moving through the water at 800 knots, too much for any human vessel. She rides a water spout over the ship and towards the land.
Jeanne-Marie is gone, her Aurora personality now dominant. Aurora is Jeanne-Marie's opposite: confident, adventurous and powerful. She jets across the sky in a black and white costume with a star motif. Jean-Paul, now Northstar in his matching costume, flies with her. She tells him to hurry up and flies circles around her brother. He ponders why Guardian has summoned them after so long. Aurora rejects the name Jeanne-Marie, denying her other self. Northstar doesn't understand her. She playfully flies away, teasingly telling him to chase her. He doesn't bite and continues to fly along at a more conservative pace.
At Mansfield Airbase, Eugene Judd arrives dressed as Puck. He tells a guard at the gate that he's here as part of Alpha Flight. The guard doesn't recognize him and won't let him in. Puck flips the guard over and climbs atop his chest. The guard makes fun of Puck's name and tells him to get clearance or back off. Frustrated, Puck leaves.

Shaman throws more powders towards the spout and the waters blast Tundra, eroding the beast into nothing but a human skull wearing a magical crown. Shaman puts the skull and crown in his magical pouch.
Back at home, Heather cautions James about Aurora before they walk into the living room, where the rest of Alpha Flight are in civilian clothes. Walter and Judd get into a playful wrestling match.
At the Albany River Proving Grounds, the newly reconstituted Alpha Flight engages in a training exercise. Guardian flies along, scanning the terrain. Northstar and Aurora crisscross within inches of him, shorting his armor. He falls into the arms of Sasquatch, who catches him and throws him directly at a rock outcropping. With no force field, he'll be pulverized. Shaman leaps into action and throws arcane powders in Guardian's direction. A giant leafy tree grows from the ground and cushions Guardian.
Marinna sends a torrent of water Sasquatch's way, soaking him. Puck laughs at Sasquatch. Sasquatch gives chase and Guardian calls for a time out. He asks Aurora to calm down Sasquatch. Shaman says it was a good practice, but Guardian laments that Snowbird couldn't make it. Guardian questions his own leadership abilities, but Shaman encourages him.
Sasquatch is calm and they regroup. Puck notices something is wrong with Marinna and he checks on her. He touches her and she tells him to stop. He tries to comfort her, but she rips his stomach open with one of her claws. She runs and dives in the river and swims off at maximum speed. Aurora and Northstar try to catch her, but she's to fast and is quickly gone. Shaman tends to Puck while Sasquatch is angry. Guardian says they can track her with her brooch. He says he's done everything he can and Judd is strong, but he doesn't have any powers to back up that strength. James and the team leave Michael behind to track down Marinna.
Guardian flies the Omnijet with the reduced team on board. He reports to Gary Cody that they are tracking Marinna. He tells them to alert him immediately if she crosses into international waters. The rest of the team questions Guardian about not telling them more about Marinna.
Guardian tells the story of Marinna's origin. He flashes back to a small boat, the Mary D, which is stuck on the sea during a massive storm. Captain Smallwood tries to keep the boat upright. He rushes out onto the deck to save the boat's nets and gets swept overboard. He gets pulled to the bottom by the nets and starts to pass out. He comes upon a large glowing egg and grabs ahold of it. It takes him back to the surface and he's pulled back aboard the boat.
Later, at the Smallwood home, Dan's son notices that there's something alive inside the egg. It breaks open and inside is a baby Marinna. Later, the Smallwoods are raising a toddler Marinna alongside their own son. As a teen, Marinna discovered her swimming abilities and strength. Within a year, she was training with Beta Flight before Department H previously shut down. Guardian says she was checked out as thoroughly as any other member of Alpha Flight and she passed with flying colors. He has no idea what's wrong with her.
Marinna swims to a cave-like entrance to a arctic glacier. She follows alien metal pipes through the caves until she comes into a room filled with a massive mechanical apparatus and the Master. He says he summoned her to reveal her true nature and purpose
Guardian arrives at the glacier along with Aurora, Northstar and Sasquatch. Sasquatch rips open a large metal door and they go inside. Snowbird is supposed to join them soon.
Inside, the heroes get lost, as if the passageways are changing around them. A wall separates Sasquatch and Guardian from Aurora and Northstar. Sasquatch and Guardian attack the wall, but it grows back and replaces itself.
Aurora and Northstar are caught in the dark. They touch hands and light fills the massive chamber. They fly through it and it takes a while to reach the other end. Metal rods spring from the walls and one hits Northstar in the head and knocks him out. The rods come at Aurora from every direction and her phobias kick in, shocking her from her Aurora personality to Jeanne-Marie. She no longer has powers and the rods begin to crush her.
Sasquatch finally tears through enough machinery to get to Jeanne-Marie and free her from the rods. She is Jeanne-Marie, though, and she's upset and ashamed of her costume. Guardian points in the direction Northstar must be in. Northstar is alone and separated from the others. He hears a woman scream and thinking that it's Aurora, he flies off in that direction, unknowingly flying away from his sister and teammates.

The Master tells Marinna the story of Marinna's race. A dying planet sent out wave after wave of spacecraft to try to find a new home. They constantly expanded. One of the ships landed on Earth and over years it became a colonization complex. Eggs like the one Marinna hatched from are to be sent out into the environment and they bond with local creatures to create new lifeforms. But the ship malfunctions and only Marinna's egg survived.
In the present. The Master stands above Marinna. He says he can start the project over and complete the mission. Marinna rejects him and claims to be human. The laser probes slice into her. He's going to use pieces of her flesh to grow others of her species.
A swarm of mosquitos arrives and then transforms into the form of Snowbird. She crushes the first of Marinna's manacles and the damage ripples out to destroy other parts of the ship. Guardian and Northstar blast through the wall. Snowbird frees Marinna. The Master sits in his chair and it transforms to a small flying craft. Sasquatch arrives through a hole in the wall, carrying an unconscious Jeanne-Marie.
The Master escapes. Guardian tells Northstar to follow him, but he's too busy tending to Jeanne-Marie. Snowbird says they have to leave, the place is falling apart. They escape to the Omnijet ang board it. The glacier and the Master's ship explode and sink into the ocean. Snowbird flies off as the rest of the team leaves in the Omnijet.
