Bruce Lodge buys a house from realtor Johnny Nelson. Lodge is an intimidating man.
After unpacking, Lodge goes outside and enters his new barn, which is filled with potential murder weapons.
He finds a box and inside is the mask of a the serial killer Carnage. He puts on the mask and practices stabbing with a knife.
Deborah Larson waits for her husband to arrive home, she has dinner prepared.
He's not home by 5:30, so she starts drinking wine. Her dead mother's voice starts talking to her, saying her husband is cheating on her.
Her husband Jamison calls and says he has to go out of town for work.
Deborah hears that Jamison is calling from a bar and questions him.
Deborah's mother's voice tells her to kill Jamison.
At the bar, Jamison brags about his TV show while chatting to a man named Steve in a bar.
Lodge puts on the Carnage mask and enters the barn.
Inside, Carnage assaults his captive, Johnny.
Carnage has a "Murder Board" where he tracks himself killing random people based on simple descriptive phrases posted to the board.
Carnage goes through Johnny's wallet and pulls out a picture of Johnny and his wife and places it on the Murder Board.
Carnage tells Johnny to cooperate and his wife will be safe.
Carnage stabs Johnny in the face with a knife. He stabs several more times but doesn't like the knife as a weapon.
Johnny dies and Carnage wipes Johnny's blood on his mask.
Carnage places Johnny's picture in the spot on the Murder Board labeled "asshole."
Carnage throws away the knife as an inferior weapon.
Deborah paces back and forth trying to make a decision. Her mother's voice tells her to do it.
In a flashback, Deborah remembers being drugged by her mother on her birthday.
Deborah's mother forces her to eat a severed human finger, revealing her own life as a cannibal.
Deborah's mother says that Deborah already has the hunger in her.
In the present, Deborah has become a cannibal, too, and prepares previous victims for eating in a VERY Martha Stuart fashion.
Police Capt. Jackie Anderson congratulates Det. Gregory Carter on his retirement.
Reporters question Anderson heavily about nine missing locals, but Anderson walks out of the press conference with no comment.
A man named Bobby Lee drives along at night when his car runs out of gas near Lodge's house.
Bobby knocks on Lodge's door and Lodge lets him in after finding out Bobby is passing through and has no local connections.
Later, Bobby is tied up in the barn.
Carnage selects a new weapon, a machete, and assaults Bobby with it.
The machete didn't instantly kill Bobby and Carnage has to try several times.
Carnage throws the machete away and adds Bobby's blood to his mask.
Lodge is watching television and sees a report that there are nine people missing locally.
He realizes this means someone else is encroaching on his territory.
Carnage selects a large sledge hammer as his next weapon. It glows a faint green when he touches it.
Jamison arrives home and accidentally drops a driver's license on the floor.
Deborah doesn't see it and he successfully hides it from her.
She goes to cook and he picks up the license.
Jamison puts his bag on the bed and pulls out a shoe box.
He puts the license into the shoebox, revealing that it belonged to Steve. Another license in the box belongs to Bob Andrews.
Jamison puts the box away and joins Deborah in the kitchen.
