•  1. Introduce the Early family and their bonsai tree farm.

  • 2. Describe Hurricane Carl.

  • 3. Jeffrey the dog scares Dwayne.

  • 4. Introduce the Hasley family and their junkyard.

  • 5. Charley Hasley has a stroke and is hospitalized.

  • 6. Introduce Jeff Buss and other prisoners involved in the story. Muschetti is worried that something bad is going to happen.

  • 7. Dwayne visits a hardware store. He talks with Sheriff Ted Boone, who lets on that there is something happening at the prison. George and Russell harass Dwayne.

  • 8. On an oil rig, Muschetti, Barkley and Jackson do a job for the BSCS under the watch of Koy and Vaught. Muschetti is attacked by a glowing blue snake that kills him. The others see him die, but don't see the snake.

  • 9. Back at the prison, Barkley and Jackson are interrogated by Warden Bryant. Bryant confirms their stories with Vaught and Koy, who note that things don't add up. Bryant calls for a meeting of the BSCS.

  • 10. Judith meets with her friend Audrey Newman, who says she's going to restart the local businesswomen's roundtable. She gives Judith a card for landscaping workers.

  • 11. Judith hires the landscapers to move the bonsai trees into the barn to avoid the hurricane.

  • 12. Kyra breaks into the Hasley junkyard to steal scrap metal for her art project. George notices her, but she doesn't see him.

  • 13. In the gym, the basketball team practices. Karl faces off against Russell. Russell starts of well, but Karly quickly learns his tricks and he starts outplaying his older neighbor.

  • 14. After practice, Russell and Keith play a prank on Karl.

  • 15. Marilyn helps the landscapers move the bonsai trees into the barn, her mother is going to pay her for helping out.

  • 16. Jeffrey the dog is bitten by one of the glowing blue snakes. He is infected and, in a rage, he breaks through the fence to the Early property. He bites Marilyn on the ankle. Workmen spring to action and help save Marilyn. The dog runs off.

  • 17. Dwayne comes home and learns about Jeffrey's attack on Marilyn. He goes next door to confront them.

  • 18. George is secretly masturbating to gay porn, something his family knows nothing about.

  • 19. George goes to the front door to confront Dwayne. His brothers join them.

  • 20. Dwayne complains about several things, including the dog attacking Marilyn. George plays the peacemaker at first, but Dwayne says he's not going to vote for George for mayor. George turns on him and they rush Dwayne off their property by promising to get rid of the dog.

  • 21. At the hospital, doctors tell Charley he has to leave town to get treatment to save his life. George and Billy ask Barbra to run the junkyard for their father, but she says she's going with Charley. Billy, as the oldest, will be in charge.

  • 22. Billy finds a weird coin in his father's clothes and pockets it.

  • 23. Back at home, George and Billy aren't really talking. in his parents room, Billy figures out that the coin was issued by the BSCS and he finds several other items that prove his father is a member.

  • 24. Kyra works on a statue of the character "Fat Mama" from "Who Wants To Be A Superhero." George arrives and makes fun of the statue. Kyra shakes it off and lands insult after insult on George. He gets tired of it and warns her about stealing from the junkyard.

  • 25. The basketball team scrimmages. Karl has moved into the starting point guard spot.

  • 26. A scout and radio announcer discuss the team, noting that Russell isn't made to play ball at a higher level, but Karl might be.

  • 27. Karl starts playing very well at the point. He has trouble working with Russell. Russell struggles against the younger, but taller, Theo.

  • 28. Marilyn, who is on crutches, struggles to get into the school. Keith helps her, but soon Marilyn's popular friends rescue her and shoo Keith away.

  • 29. In the middle of the night, the Early family is woken up to the barking of Jeffrey the dog, who is still on the Hasley's property. Judith calls 9-1-1 and Sheriff Boone puts the dog in a K-9 truck

  • 30. The BSCS meets with Sheriff Boone presiding. The other members include Bryant, Vaught, Neyland, Koy, politician Ricky Howards and others. Everything is going to plan, but they should all stay alert. Neyland notes that there are problems at the prison.

  • 31. The Hasley family visits the hospital to say goodbye to Charley and Barbra, who have to go out of state for his treatment.

  • 32. Dwayne arrives home and calls a family meeting. He tells them that there won't be any disaster relief for the local bonsai tree farms and that if they get everything into the barn before the storm comes, they'll have an advantage over the other farms. Essentially, they've already been doing this, so Dwayne's big plan is just finishing what they already started.

  • 33. Judith discovers that the bank is about to foreclose on the bonsai tree farm.

  • 34. Judith learns of something called the "Tukabatchee Massacre" and decides to write her next book about it.

  • 35. Billy stalks Judith at the grocery store. He doesn't do anything, but she's very aware of his presence.

  • At the prison, Jeff talks to Barkley and Jackson about Muschetti's death. Vaught comes into the room and they break up, not wanting to get in trouble with Vaught.

  • 36. In his cell, Jeff is visited by Ronnie, Ricky and Michael and they tell him he has to shiv somebody for them. He refuses at first, but they reveal that they have the key to his cell, so he does what they want or else the violence will be focused on him instead. He agrees to do what they want.

  • 37. Kyra finishes making her statue. George congratulates her and insults her at the same time. She opens up a little. He tries to kiss her, but she rejects him and says she's a lesbian. He gets upset and knocks her statue down, breaking it, and runs off.

  • 38. Coach Gallant tells Russell that he's no longer a starter on the team. Theo will take his place. Russell is upset, saying this will hurt his future. But coach tells him he doesn't have a future in basketball. Russell runs away.

  • 39. Karl and his teammates discuss what they want to do when they get rich playing ball. Some have the normal desires for fame and fortune, some have weird suggestions. Karl wants to use basketball as a way to help him find a way to use his privilege to help Africa. He doesn't have any specific plans, though, it's merely speculative at this point.

  • 40. Marilyn leaves school and Keith holds the door for her again. He apologizes for Jeffrey biting her. She accepts the apology and says it wasn't his fault. She apologizes for the dog being taken away, but, knowing that the sheriff brought the dog back, Keith isn't that upset. Marilyn questions him about it before she faints.

  • 41. The Early family visits Marilyn in the hospital. Judith stays with her, but Dwayne takes the kids home to make sure things are secure for the coming storm.

  • 42. The hurricane has hit category 5 status and Dwayne worries the barn isn't secure.

  • 43. At the prison, Ronnie asks Bryant a question as a distraction and then starts a riot. Jeff prepares to stab Bryant, but he hesitates.

  • 44. Dwayne goes outside during heavy rains to secure the barn door. He is attacked by Jeffrey the dog.

  • 45. Ronnie orders Jeff to stab Bryant, which he does. Neyland and Vaught beat Jeff down with batons. The riot is quelled with brutal violence.

  • 46. Dwayne kills Jeffrey the dog.

  • 47. Jeff is still alive, but he's taken to solitary.

  • 48. Dwayne goes back inside, hugs his family and tells them he killed the dog.
